Originally founded as a visual effects studio in 1987, EI Technology Group developed a proprietary 3D rendering and animation package to create digital special effects for film. After significant recognition for the early efforts, it soon realized that a strong market existed for a lower cost, high-quality 3D rendering and animation platform that rivaled those products found on SGI machines of the time.
EI Technology Group, LLC. pioneered high-end 3D imagery and animation on the desktop platform, and in the process created the undisputed "world’s fastest software renderer" without sacrificing quality for speed.
The EI Animation System (EIAS) was the first desktop 3D package used for motion picture (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and television (Space Rangers) special effects. There are numerous features and interface considerations which, after having been successfully introduced in EIAS, were immediately adopted by competing products and are now considered industry standards.
Legendary ease-of-use has made EIAS a favorite among artists in all industries, including graphic design, video production, engineering, game development, and especially animation and special effects throughout Hollywood.
The list of animation credits from Electric Image reads like a Who’s Who of broadcast television and film — from "X-Files" to "Super Bowl XXXV," from "Dinosaur" to "Star Wars: Episode I.
EI Technology Group also created the first bridge between 3D graphics and the 2D design worlds with its innovative Amorphium software. Amorphium Pro offers intuitive 3D creation with its ability to shape objects with real-time 2D brushes. It offers intuitive modeling, animation and rendering — plus the ability to produce low-bandwidth graphics for integration with Macromedia Flash. To date the Amorphium product line has won more than twenty industry awards, including "Best Product of the Year" from PC World and Macworld magazines.
