Bones Pro functions as a Object Space Modifier (OSM) and is applied to objects as a standard modifier. To make Bones Pro work on your mesh, you need to assign bones to use to deform the mesh. Bones Pro will work with either standard 3ds max boxes or the Bones system in 3ds max. (If you’re working with 3ds max 4, then the new bones system will work exceptionally well with our deformation tools) Once you have assigned the bones, you simply assign selected vertices in the object to each bone. Then, when you move or animate the bone, the vertices of the object will move with it. The following figure shows you a quick character with a box skeletal system using Bones Pro 3.
In addition to adding deformable mesh options to 3ds max, Bones Pro 3 includes a BoneJiggler space warp, which can be used to make the vertices of a mesh jiggle when animated. This can be used to simulate overweight people, Jell-O, and other such effects.
