Description
GeoFrac2000 is a realistic landscape and terrain generation tool that will create and output heightfields, texture maps, 3D Polygon Meshes, and more. It’s primary function is to create, sculpt and manipulate 2D heightfields using sophisticated techniques and algorithms, as well as manual modifications via grayscale painting.
GeoFrac2000 is NOT a rendering program, it is a landscape modeling program. In order to render the landscapes, you will need to export them to Rhino, 3DS Max and/or Terragen.
GeoFrac2000 has a full 3D viewing style type of environment, which allows you to design and view landscapes from all sides and directions.
Features:
Windows 9x & Windows NT w/OpenGL support, Windows 2000 & Windows XP.
Multiple 2D and 3D customizing views.
Realtime rendered and texture mapped views.
Heightfield creation from imported images.
Fractal landscapes and heightfields using fractal geometry and "land faulting" techniques.
Importing of pre-existing types of heightfields.
Importing of D.E.M. (Digital Elevation Maps) files.
Exporting of Rhino 3D Polygon Meshes directly into Rhino or to a file (or both).
Terragen .TER file format support (export only currently).
Terrain filtering for further realism (ex.. Erosion, glaciating, smoothing, etc).
Terrain sculpting via gray scale painting directly on to the heightfield (ex. dig, plow, raise, lower, plateau, etc).
Colorizing and texture map generation (currently) based on altitude.
Exporting of colorized texture maps, bump maps, and other types of mask files.
Asteroid feature allows for creation of a "displaced" spherical mesh using heightfields for very realistic rocks and asteroid formations.
SDK !!! Fully Plug-able interface that will support the development of 3rd party plugins.
This currently consists of the following types of plugins:
- Terrain generators
- Mesh generators
- Terrain filters
- Sculpting tools
- Renderers (currently comes with overhead and Voxel render)
- Colorizing and material generation
- Exporting tools
