Description
Vision™ is a universally usable high-performance game development system, being developed and continuously improved for the special needs and wishes of the entertainment industry. Rather than being centered around a single game project or even a specific genre like First-Person Shooters or Strategy Games, Vision is the development system of choice for virtually any kind of 3D title. It doesn’t make a difference if your game project is set in outdoor or indoor scenarios, whether it uses a first or third person perspective, or whether it is an action shooter, a strategy game, a flight simulator or a racing game. And even though Vision provides an impressive feature set out of the box, it has been designed to be open for your own custom modifications.
The Engine
The acclaimed first half of the Vision package is the Vision engine, a high-performance game engine providing superior rendering features as well as basic physics and AI functionality, interfaced through an object-oriented and well-structured high-level API. The unique power and flexibility of Vision’s engine architecture provide you with the tools to create a visually more stunning and more immersive game environment, resulting in a rich atmosphere and a game that is simply more fun to play.
The Vision Tools Set
Vision’s high-performance engine is complemented by a comprehensive set of tools that allow your development team to be highly productive. One of the most important aspects of the philosophy behind the Vision tools set is the combination of proprietary tools and support for professional modelling packages in order to reach a very optimized workflow. You can design all your game worlds with vEdit, the Vision modelling and content management software, but you don’t have to – if you prefer working in 3D Studio MAX or Maya, you are welcome to do so.
As we are fully aware of the fact that all the amazing graphical features are nothing without a convenient, intuitive and efficient way of integrating them into your game world, Trinigy is focusing a lot of its resources on the development of tools and interfaces with maximum integration and ease of use for the next generation of computer games.
Production Pipeline
This section is meant to give you a general overview of the Vision production pipeline. Basically, Vision distinguishes between a game world (i.e. the static structural geometry in your levels) and entities. Entities can be either static or dynamic; they might serve as static detail geometry in your levels (e.g. the bottles in a liquor store) or as animated characters populating the game environment (e.g. the shopkeeper in the liquor store). Entities can interact with each other and with the world geometry, and this interaction is usually defined in the entity code for which the API provides interfaces and helper functions. In a similar manner, events in and modifications of the world itself can be defined through the Vision API.
